A 48-year-old man from Panchakodi in Rayi village in Bantwal taluk, Jeevan Pinto, went missing on Saturday evening.According to Bantwal Rural police, he is suspected of having slipped into a rivulet and been swept away while crossing it near his house using a footbridge around 7.30 p.m. on Saturday. A torchlight and his slippers were found at the spot. He had left home to visit his uncle’s house nearby.Police and Fire and Emergency Services personnel are searching for him.Meanwhile, Dakshina Kannada recorded 100.6 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Sunday, against the normal rainfall of 44.6 mm for the period, according to the District Disaster Management Authority.Two houses were partially damaged in the district, and 36 Mescom utility poles were also damaged.The water level in the Netravathi River at Bantwal stood at 8.6 m against the danger level of 9 m. It was at 29.90 m at Uppinangady in the same river against the danger level of 31.5 m.The water level in the Phalguni River at Addur crossed the danger level and stood at 7.1 m against the danger level of 6.5 m. The water level in the Kumaradhara River at Pulikukku stood at 82.15 m against the danger level of 84.325 m.Udupi district reported 83.2 mm of rainfall in 24 hours.
