At least seven people were killed and 18 others injured in a suicide attack outside the gate of Kabal police station in Swat on Sunday, police said.
According to Swat District Police Officer (DPO), the suicide bomber detonated explosives after police personnel attempted to stop and search him at the entrance of the police station.
“Initially, seven people were killed and 18 others were injured. Our police are on high alert and fully prepared to respond to any untoward situation. Security forces have cordoned off the area, and an investigation is underway to collect further evidence,” the DPO said.
The explosion occurred while a large public protest was taking place at Kabal Chowk against the recent surge in terrorist violence in Swat Valley.
