In an interview at the end of 2025 with British journalist Piers Morgan, Cristiano Ronaldo confided how he asked Georgina Rodriguez, his partner of ten years, to marry him, and spoke about when that might happen.
"I had bought the ring, a friend slipped it into my hand and our daughters saw the moment. They asked me if I was going to ask their mum to marry me and I felt it was the right time to do it," he said.
When it came to the wedding date, Cristiano deftly sidestepped the question, denying a goal to the thousands of curious fans wondering when the long‑awaited ceremony would take place. The captain of the Portuguese national team merely said it would be "after the World Cup, with the champion's trophy". With no trophy, does that mean no wedding?
Once the World Cup was over, with Portugal going no further than the last 16, rumours around the wedding began to grow. It was already known that Georgina wanted it to be "private" and that the weekend of 1 and 2 August was the most likely time for it to take place, since Al-Nassr start their season on 13 September and the star would be heading back to the club to begin pre-season training.
The media then started making their own preparations for the wedding. As Cristiano Ronaldo and his family had been spending a lot of time in the municipality of Cascais, where the player is building a house, rumours surfaced that the wedding might be held at the Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra, a palace west of Lisbon, as reported by Portuguese TV show "V+ Fama" on TVI.
