The P. Dayanand Pai and P. Satish Pai Yakshagana Adhyayana Kendra of Mangalore University will organise a symposium on the topic ‘Yakshagana Chowki: Shape and Features’ at the Swastika Waterfront Auditorium, Sultan Bathery, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.Yakshagana scholar Raghav Nambiyar will inaugurate the symposium and present a paper on the nature and significance of the Chowki. Senior artist Diwan Shivashankar Bhat will speak on the heritage and contemporary relevance of chowki (traditional green room or dressing room), while artist Ravishankar Valakunja will speak on the interesting aspects of it.Later, a panel discussion will be held with researchers. Artist Prithviraj Kavatthar will preside over it, a release from the Kendra said.The symposium will be held in association with Swastika National Business School, Mangaluru.
