A 43-year-old woman was arrested after police seized an assault rifle, ammunition and cannabis products during an intelligence-led operation in Curepe on Friday night.The operation was between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. by officers of the Northern North Division Task Force, who searched a residence on Harris Street, Curepe, based on information received by police.During the search of a bedroom, officers found an AR rifle, several types of ammunition and cannabis-related items, according to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS).Police said the items seized included 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 50 rounds of .44 ammunition, 20 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, 99 rounds of .22 ammunition and three rounds of 5.7 ammunition.Officers also recovered five pistol magazines, an extended pistol magazine, a rifle magazine and several firearm component parts, including springs, guide rods and pistol back straps.In addition, police found a black suitcase containing five compressed packets of cannabis weighing 2.6 kilogrammes, along with boxes of cannabis-infused vapes and cannabis-infused chocolates.The woman was arrested and remains in police custody as investigations continue.The operation was supervised by Cpl Griffith.The items the TTPS recovered:• One black suitcase with five compressed packets of cannabis amounting to 2.6 kilogrammes• One bag with 23 boxes of cannabis-infused vapes and three boxes of cannabis-infused chocolates• One AR rifle• 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition• 50 rounds of .44 ammunition• 20 rounds of 5.56 ammunition• 99 rounds of .22 ammunition• Three rounds of 5.7 ammunition• Five pistol magazines• One extended pistol magazine• One rifle magazine• Component parts, namely one rifle spring and guide rod, two pistol springs and guide rods, and two pistol back straps.
