Douglas "Mfene" Thusini, an anti-illegal immigration activist and founding uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party member in KwaMashu, north of Durban, was shot dead near his home on Friday while returning from a community operation in nearby Ntuzuma.
The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has called on the South African Police Service's Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) to urgently investigate what it says is a growing pattern of targeted killings involving its members, following the fatal shooting of one of its founding members in KwaMashu.
Anti-illegal migration activist and founding MK Party member in KwaMashu, north of Durban, Gideon "Mfene" Thusini, 42, was gunned down on Friday evening while returning from a community operation in nearby Ntuzuma.
According to KwaZulu-Natal police, Thusini was shot on Nkonjane Road in KwaMashu K Section. No arrests have been made and the motive for the attack remains under investigation.
His killing comes amid growing concern within the MK Party over the number of its members who have been murdered in recent months.
