August signals the start of the Little League Softball World Series, an institution for players and parents alike. Now in its 52nd edition, the annual tournament funnels teams from around the globe into Greenville, N.C.Stallings Stadium at Elm Street Park is set to host a dozen squads and 22 matchups from Aug. 2-9. The Aug. 2-5 action lands on ESPN2. ESPN has four games between Aug. 6-9, including the third-place consolation matchup.The championship is over the air on ABC. Last year’s title game drew more than 1.4 million viewers, a Little League softball record.Matt Schick and Jenny Dalton-Hill call daytime games during the tourney’s first three days. Courtney Lyle, Amanda Scarborough and Michele Smith are in the booth for night games, with Kris Budden joining them as of Wednesday, Aug. 5. Those four take on the rest of the broadcasts through championship Sunday.ESPN Unlimited subscribers can stream all 22 games through the app as well.
