A police officer attached to the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) told the Durban Regional Court earlier this week how he and his team obtained CCTV footage capturing the fatal shooting of former ANC councillor Sunil Brijmohan.
The officer also detailed how the PKTT traced a now-deceased State witness who provided crucial information regarding the murder of Brijmohan.
Vernon Bala Tyson Chetty, Farahaa Moosa, Sibusiso Ngcobo, and Vikash “Brian” Sewnath are on trial for the murder of the former Isipingo ward councillor, conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
Warrant Officer Thamsanqa Khumalo testified that on October 24, 2022, the PKTT began investigating the murder of Brijmohan, who was shot dead on October 21, 2022, at a construction site in Cato Crescent, Amanzimtoti.
