Atiku maintained that he stood firmly by Obasanjo during his imprisonment under the late military regime, supported his family throughout the period of incarceration and played a pivotal role in rebuilding his political career after his release, leading to his eventual emergence as Nigeria's president.
The former vice-president's response followed comments made by Obasanjo on Friday during a fireside conversation with veteran entertainer and activist Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, at the public presentation of Charly Boy's foundation and memoir, 999: A Memoir in Tribute to Late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa*, in Lagos.
