The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Lekan Alabi, describing the veteran journalist and palace chief as an extraordinary figure whose passing has left a painful void in Ibadanland.
Alabi's death was announced on Saturday in a statement issued by the Olubadan of Ibadanland's media aide, Chief Adeola Oloko.
The veteran journalist and Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland died in Lagos at the age of 76 and is scheduled to be buried on Sunday in accordance with Islamic rites.
Reacting to Alabi's death, Oba Ladoja, through a statement issued by his media aide, Oloko, said the late Alabi was more than a palace chief, recalling that they both grew up in the Born Photo, Isale-Osi area of Ibadan and shared memories stretching back to their childhood.
