Ukraine’s top-ranked tennis player, Elina Svitolina, was defeated in the quarterfinals of the WTA 500 tournament in Washington, D.C. (USA), which had a prize pool of $1,637,982.

Elina (WTA No. 10) lost in two sets to Alexandra Eala (28) of the Philippines—3-6, 4-6, according to Ukrinform.

The rivals spent about an hour and a half on the court.

This was their second head-to-head match. In mid-June of this year, Eala defeated Svitolina by exactly the same score in the quarterfinals of the WTA 500 tournament in Berlin.
