If you’re an aviation geek, Overflight is a fun new app for iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV that shows you exactly what planes are flying above you, where they’re headed to, and everything else you’d like to know.
Highlights
There are a number of nifty desk gadgets that show overhead flight data, but one thing I find particularly cool about Overflight is the fact that it has an Apple TV app – giving you the same always-on nature of a physical product.
At a glance, in the free app, you can see the flight number, the tail number, the altitude, speed, nautical mile distance, and more. With pro, you unlock the flight path, can listen to spoken traffic, and see notable inbound alerts – giving you a heads up to look around if something cool is about to pass you. It’ll also never time out if you’re subscribed to pro, whereas free will time out after a short while.
