Sri Lanka’s High Court has sentenced the country’s former police chief to death – after a majority of judges ruled that he failed to act on warnings that suicide bombers planned to stage a series of attacks on Easter Sunday 2019.
More than 260 people were killed and hundreds of others were injured in the co-ordinated attacks.
The same sentence was also passed down to a former defence minister. Both say they will appeal.
