Ukraine has hit back at Russia overnight, destroying key oil refineries and sinking a Russian shadow fleet tanker.
It was confirmed today Russia bombarded Ukraine with ballistic missiles and drones overnight, killing nine people and injuring 33 others in Kyiv. This came just days after another major attack this week, where at least 10 people died.
But Ukraine has continued its attacks, behind Russian lines, once again striking key infrastructure sites.
Scott Lucas, professor of US and International Politics at University College Dublin, said this shows Ukraine is “moving from resistance to a show of strength against the Russians”.
“Do I think this will knock Russia out of the war?” he told The i Paper. “No, but I think what it does is it puts the question gradually to the Kremlin: do you want to keep on trying to seize more Ukrainian territory, or do you ceasefire on the basis of the current front lines?”
