Aug. 1 (UPI) -- At least nine people are dead and many more injured in Russian ballistic missile strikes on Kyiv, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
Zelensky posted on X: "Eighteen residential buildings, a school, the Lithuanian Embassy and infrastructure facilities were damaged."
"Overnight, the Russians launched 35 missiles at Ukraine, including 27 ballistic missiles, as well as 185 attack drones of various types," he said. "Kyiv was the primary target, but strikes also hit the Dnipro, Sumy, Kharkiv and Poltava regions."
Ukraine, using drones, also sank a Russian-owned container ship in the Black Sea Saturday. Russia said that all crew members were rescued.
