Five days of incessant heavy rain triggered three landslips at Thayyeni in East Eleri grama panchayat, a hilly region in Kasaragod district, forcing the evacuation of 12 families amid fears of flash floods.The hilly areas of Kasaragod and neighbouring Cherupuzha panchayat in Kannur have been receiving intense rainfall over the past five days.The authorities have warned that continued rainfall could trigger more landslips in the region.
