The Labour Party has urged Nigeria’s political class to embrace issue-based campaigns, patriotism and tolerance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

It also warned against politics capable of deepening divisions and undermining national unity.

The party’s National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman, made the call on Saturday while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the 80th birthday celebration of former Plateau State Governor and former Governor of old Benue State, Senator Jonah Jang, in Jos.

Her remarks come as political parties gradually begin consultations, realignments and mobilisation ahead of the next electoral cycle, amid growing debate over the tone and direction of political discourse in the country.
