Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge said the state would launch the recruitment process to fill 74,000 government posts from Sunday.The government has put in place a series of technology-driven and administrative measures to ensure transparent examinations and prevent paper leaks and recruitment irregularities, he said.Priyank said the measures were finalised after Chief Minister D K Shivakumar chaired a three-and-a-half-hour review meeting on Friday with Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police, officials of the Karnataka Examinations Authority, the Karnataka Public Service Commission and other senior officers.Read More: Rajasthan govt to hire 24,000 sanitation workers"The Finance Department has already given concurrence to fill 74,000 posts. As promised by the CM and the Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara, the recruitment process will begin this Sunday," the minister told reporters here on Saturday.Notifications for 36,773 posts will be issued over the next six months. Nearly 35 lakh candidates are expected to apply, he said.Stating that the measures were aimed at preventing controversies similar to those witnessed in NEET and other recruitment examinations, the minister said accountability had been fixed for Deputy Commissioners, SPs, Commissioners and other officials.He said the government had introduced a randomised question bank with a minimum 1:10 ratio, five-layer tamper-proof packaging for question papers, high-security printing outside Karnataka, and one-time lockable security trunks that would automatically trigger alerts if opened without authorisation.Read More: Railway Ministry approves recruitment process for 4,098 technical posts to strengthen safetyJammers would be installed in every examination room instead of only at examination centres, as was the practice earlier, while candidates in the same hall would receive different sequences of questions and answer options through complete randomisation, he said.To prevent manipulation, OMR sheets would be uploaded to the KEA website within 24 hours of being received, even before evaluation, enabling candidates to verify them, he added.Priyank said flying squads had been formed to inspect examination centres, which would be sanitised 24 hours in advance. CCTV surveillance, prohibitory orders around examination centres, secure transportation of OMR sheets, and detailed Standard Operating Procedures for police and district officials had been put in place.He said social media platforms, such as WhatsApp, Telegram, BitChat and Snapchat, would be monitored to curb rumours and prevent attempts to leak question papers, while surveillance had been intensified on persons accused in previous examination scams.Coaching centres and training institutes had been warned of strict action if they failed to report suspicious activities, he said.Candidates had been informed through their admit cards about the items permitted inside the examination hall, while electronic devices, books and calculators were among those prohibited, he said.Those wearing religious symbols or attire would be allowed after mandatory frisking and had been advised to report to the examination centre two-and-a-half hours before the examination, he said."Our responsibility is to secure the future of our children. Even a minor lapse by one official or one candidate can disturb the entire examination centre and affect thousands of students who have worked hard," Priyank said.Appealing for public cooperation, the minister urged candidates, parents and the media to report suspected malpractice through the emergency helpline 112 or the Recruitment Control Room numbers 9480800308 and 9480800106.On concerns surrounding KPSC, Priyank said only 906 posts in the current recruitment cycle were being handled by the Commission and withdrawing them now would create complications.He said the government had constituted a committee headed by S V Bhaskar and Ranganath to recommend comprehensive reforms to the state's recruitment process, including changes to KPSC's functioning."Our commitment is to the future of our youth. Providing employment is our responsibility. The people elected us for that purpose, and we will fulfil that promise," he added.
