The road leading to 2nd Monnangeri village was blocked following a landslip following heavy rains in Kodagu district in south Karnataka.

Kodagu district received rain on July 31 and August 1, prompting the authorities to take precautionary measures. Schools and anganwadi centres remained closed in Somwarpet taluk. The Kodagu district administration had declared a holiday in view of the forecast of heavy rainfall in south Karnataka.Madikeri and Somwarpet taluks received heavy rain. Madikeri recorded 86.08 mm of rainfall while Somwarpet received 93.9 mm in the 24 hours ending 8 a.m. on August 1. The district recorded an average rainfall of 56.79 mm during the same period.Heavy rain triggered a landslide at 2nd Monnangeri village, disrupting traffic on the road leading to the village.In Madikeri town, roads in Spatika Layout were inundated after drains overflowed following incessant rain.
