The Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence Ministry has unveiled the new national space program HELLAS-SPACE 2.0, with a total budget of €350 million, aimed at strengthening the country’s space capabilities and satellite ecosystem.
The program is being implemented through the General Secretariat of Telecommunications and Post, with funding from the Recovery and Resilience Fund Greece 2.0 and in cooperation with the European Space Agency.
According to the ministry, HELLAS-SPACE 2.0 will serve as a key pillar of Greece’s national space strategy, covering the development of space infrastructure, the use of satellite applications and data, the strengthening of the domestic space industry, research and innovation, and the development of highly specialized human resources.
The program includes the development of very high-resolution satellites to produce advanced geospatial data, as well as thermal imaging satellites for applications in civil protection, environmental monitoring and security.
