Social media personality and writer, Alabi Lawrence, tells FAVOUR ABALAKA about his childhood, career and life beyond social media

At what stage of your life did you realise social media could become more than a hobby?

The earliest moment I realised social media could become a career was in 2015 when Linda Ikeji bought a car and a house through blogging. I saw the potential and thought, “Isn’t it just writing news?” That was my first step towards making something out of social media.

Then, when the first Google AdSense dollars hit my account from adverts on my now-defunct blog, Elitetatafo.com, I saw the huge potential and told myself I would ride this social media wave until the wheels fall off.

As time went by, I got bored of blogging and moved into video content creation and tweeting. Things happened naturally, and today, there’s an entire digital creator economy.
