Hyman left Rent the Runway earlier this year, at the time saying only that her next step would be to “help women feel and do all of the things that they want to accomplish.” Yesterday, we provided a firsthand look at what exactly that next step is: Hyman will take the helm of Babylist, the $750 million (revenue) baby registry business that has expanded its business verticals into health and financial services. Hyman joined me for her first video/broadcast segment about the news, and we talked about everything from why she sees it soon becoming a billion-dollar business to the benefits of returning to running a private company.“I think that you can pursue much longer-term goals as a private company,” Hyman, who became one of just a few female founder-CEOs to take her company public in 2021, said Wednesday. “Logistically, there's an enormous amount of time in any public company that is spent on being public, on preparing your earnings… and spending those resources towards innovation, towards creativity, to me, is a lot more fulfilling than spending them towards the rules of how to be public.”When Hyman officially takes the reins in September, she will be the rare female founder taking over for another female founder (Babylist’s current CEO and creator, Natalie Gordon). It can be tricky to step into a leadership position once held by a company’s founder, but Hyman said she’s energized by the opportunity. “I think that my first love for founder-CEO companies is because when there is a founder involved in building something—especially for as long as I did, and for as long as Natalie has—you have a very specific type of culture,” Hyman said. “So you have a mission driven culture that is built around people being there for more than just a job.”If you’re curious to hear all of Hyman’s thoughts on the transition, you can watch the full segment here.Cheers!Maggie McGrathFeatured Forbes Profile: This Entrepreneur Will Pay You To Provide Home Care For Your Loved OnesCody Pickens for ForbesHavi Nguyen grew up managing Medicaid for her family while working at her parents’ nail salon. Now the Abby Care founder is helping others navigate America’s byzantine health care programs by using her AI-powered app to become paid caregivers for loved ones. “Why don’t we just reimagine a new care model or health care system where we can leverage the family caregiver or the parent who really understands the patient best?” she tells Forbes.ICYMI: Stories From The WeekNguyen and Abbey Care have been named to the 2026 Forbes Next Billion-Dollar Startup List, which was released this week and features 20 of the country’s fastest-growing companies most likely to become unicorns. In a sign of the times, nearly all this year’s list members use AI in some fashion as they work on everything from bone marrow to biological threats, cybersecurity to creative design. In a continued sign of how little venture funding goes to women, Nguyen is one of a handful of female faces on this list; others include Netic founder and CEO Melisa Tokmak and Valthos cofounders Kathleen McMahon (CEO) and Tess van Stekelenburg. The 2026 WNBA All-Star Game at the United Center in Chicago hosted 19,783 fans, the largest crowd in the event’s history, surpassing the previous record of 19,487 set in 2007. It was also a larger crowd than the 2026 NBA All-Star Game of 15,973 fans. This was the first time that the WNBA All-Star Game outdrew the NBA All-Star Game. The FDA-cleared birth control app Natural Cycles received its sixth FDA clearance this week, and this latest approval covers an algorithm trained on tens of millions of real-world fertility data points. That’s big news in and of itself, but here is what the announcement leaves out: Three of the women behind that clearance are particle physicists who worked on the Nobel Prize-winning discovery of the Higgs boson at CERN.New research suggests surging GLP-1 use may be exposing something uncomfortable about the way body bias shows up in the American workplace: Harvard economist Rebecca Diamond and her June 2026 National Bureau of Economic Research working paper, GLP-1–Induced Weight Loss and the Female Obesity Penalty, women who were not employed when they began taking GLP-1 medications for weight loss experienced a significant change in their employment prospects after 18 months of usage. Those women saw their employment rate increase by nearly 27 percentage points compared with women who wanted to take GLP-1s but had not yet started. The Checklist1. Beware of over-relying on your organization’s highest performers. High performers consistently meet their deadlines, support their clients and resolve urgent problems before they escalate to executive leadership. This reinforces the perception that the organization is working effectively. In reality, however, a small number of overtaxed people are repeatedly filling invisible gaps—and this comes with risks to the business.2. Stop being the go-to employee at work. On a related note… Being the go-to employee can feel flattering: You are trusted, capable and apparently the only person who remembers how the shared drive works. Being helpful is not the problem—but becoming the permanent backup plan is.3. Understand the tax breaks associated with caring for an aging parent. A new study shows that 52% of workers currently care or plan to care for both a child and an aging loved one at the same time. Forbes senior writer Kelly Phillips Erb has a dive into the tax breaks that can ease some of the financial burden of this caregiving. The QuizA popular K-pop music group won’t submit their music for consideration in next year’s Grammy Awards, in what appears to be a protest against the decision to introduce a separate “Asian Pop” category.
