JOSEPH, Mo. — Let’s start with the caveats.Yes, the Kansas City Chiefs are only three days into full-squad training camp, and the pads won’t be coming on until next week’s workouts.Even knowing those things — and taking them into account — it’s impossible to ignore the No. 1 story in camp so far:Fifth-round rookie receiver Cyrus Allen has been catching everything.That trend continued Friday, as Allen pulled down a one-handed snag from quarterback Patrick Mahomes during 11-on-11s that served as the day’s top highlight.

The quarterback trusts him in there,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said of Allen after practice. “He’s got to clean some things up, but he’s willing to work at it and do that.”During 7-on-7s, Allen flashed again on a pass down the sideline. Working around tight coverage from cornerback Nohl Williams, Allen spun around for a fingertips catch, landing with an elbow inbounds before rolling out.

— Farzin Vousoughian (@Farzin21) July 31, 2026Chiefs receiver Xavier Worthy said he hasn’t been surprised by Allen’s progress; Worthy previously told reporters on June 11 that Allen was an “electric route runner” while saying he also had explosion and good ball skills.“This isn’t even surprising,” Worthy said Friday. “I told y’all guys in the offseason that Cyrus was doing this, and he’s going to continue showing out in camp.”
