Thousands of passengers could be forced to suspend or change their travel plans during the August long weekend.
The union representing 4,400 WestJet flight attendants says it is working to avoid a labour disruption after it gave the airline a 72-hour strike notice on Thursday.
As of Friday morning, the bargaining committee remained focused on reaching a deal that would see an end to flight attendants’ unpaid work, said Lisa Lambert, spokesperson for the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE).
