BI arrests 9 foreigners over alleged illegal gambling

MANILA, Philippines — Nine foreign nationals were arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) during an entrapment operation in Pasay City over alleged involvement in illegal online gambling activities, the agency said on Friday.

According to the BI, eight Chinese nationals aged in their late 20s and early 30s and one 33-year-old Vietnamese national were arrested last July 22 in a condominium tower along Sunrise Drive, Barangay 76 in Pasay City. The BI said that the operation stemmed from intelligence information from Chinese authorities that a Chinese national was allegedly involved in a residential-based illegal online gambling.
