A major reshuffle in the top ranks of the Kerala Police is expected following the retirement of Director General of Kerala Fire and Rescue Services Nitin Agrawal on Friday.The administrative overhaul has also been necessitated by the suspension of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) M.R. Ajith Kumar, leaving the post of Managing Director of the Kerala State Beverages Corporation (BEVCO) vacant for nearly a week.Among the names being discussed is Director General of Kerala Prisons and Correctional Services S. Sreejith, who is considered next in line for promotion to the Director General of Police (DGP) rank, being vacated by Mr. Agrawal. Officials indicate that appointments to several important IPS positions are under consideration, and government orders are expected in the days to come.Meanwhile, speaking at his farewell parade held at the SAP ground in Peroorkada, Mr. Agrawal called Kerala Police as a model force for the country. He said the experience and training he received in the state had greatly contributed to his professional career and enabled him to serve more effectively in different assignments.A 1989-batch IPS officer, Mr. Agrawal is the recipient of several prestigious honours, including the Medal for Meritorious Service (2007), the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (2014) and multiple gold medals and commendations from various armed forces.State Police Chief Ravada A.
