Club Med
A 35-year-old employee of the recently opened exclusive, high end resort Club Med in Durban has been arrested in connection with the alleged sexual assault of an 18-year-old Canadian guest during what was meant to be his family’s first holiday in South Africa.
The young man was allegedly sexually assaulted shortly before he and his family were scheduled to return to their home country.
The accused, who was employed by the French holiday resort company as a GO, or Gentil Organisateur (a staff member who acts as hosts, activity leaders, and companions who eat, play, and socialize with guests and are there to create a friendly, communal vacation atmosphere), was arrested by members of the South African Police Service on Thursday morning, July 23, 2026.
He remains in custody and is due to apply for bail in the Durban Magistrate’s Court.
