The Hyderabad Police have warned convention halls, function halls, resorts, farmhouses and event organisers against using laser beam lights and other high-intensity lighting directed towards the sky near the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), warning that violations could endanger aircraft operations and invite criminal action.An awareness meeting was held at the Shamshabad Deputy Commissioner’s office on Thursday under the chairmanship of Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Tafseer Iqbal. Around 70 owners and representatives of convention halls, banquet halls and farmhouses located around the airport attended the programme.Police, along with officials from GMR Airport, explained that laser beams, sky beams, searchlights and moving beam lights can distract pilots, create glare and interfere with aircraft during take-off, approach and landing, posing a serious aviation safety risk.Venue owners were advised to ensure that decorative lighting used during weddings, parties and other events does not interfere with aircraft operations. They were also asked to sensitise event organisers, DJs, decorators and lighting contractors about the restrictions and immediately switch off such lights whenever directed by the police, airport authorities, CISF, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) or Air Traffic Control.Police warned that violations would attract legal action under the Aircraft Rules, DGCA regulations and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.The meeting was attended by Shamshabad DCP B.
