Naheem Essop, the Deputy Pension Funds Adjudicator.
The Deputy Pension Funds Adjudicator, Naheem Essop, who has held the position for the past three years, has been reappointed by Minister of Finance Enoch Godongwana for a further three years until July 31, 2029.
The minister said the extension of Essop’s appointment provided continuity at a time when the retirement funds environment continued to experience legal, operational and regulatory change, including the implementation of the two-pot retirement system, persistent complaints relating to the non-payment of retirement fund contributions by employers, and the anticipated evolution of the Office of the Pension Funds Adjudicator.
Essop’s extension of service has been welcomed by the Pension Funds Adjudicator, Lebogang Mogashoa, at a time when the retirement funds environment continues to experience legal, operational and regulatory changes.
Mogashoa said Essop’s reappointment delivered steady assurance when the retirement fund sector was under intense scrutiny.
