Abanti Batho Congress leader Philani Mavundla has rejected Pietermaritzburg High Court Judge Elsje-Marie Bezuidenhout's apology for delaying a judgment against him.

Former Umvoti Municipality mayor Philani Mavundla, a multimillionaire tenderpreneur, has rejected Pietermaritzburg High Court Judge Elsje-Marie Bezuidenhout’s apology for prejudicing him and his comrade as not sincere.

Instead of accepting the apology, which Bezuidenhout sent to them on July 21, Mavundla, who is the Abantu Batho Congress (ABC) political party president, and the party’s national chairperson Mfundo Masondo, are now preparing to sue the Office of the Chief Justice for loss of income.

Speaking on behalf of himself and Mavundla, Masondo said Bezuidenhout’s apology did not reflect the damage her actions had caused to their political careers.

The two wanted Bezuidenhout to apologise to them for ruling on June 24, 2024, against their application to the court to overturn their removal from senior positions in the municipality.
