A series of bomb threats targeting buildings in central Athens prompted a police response on Friday morning, authorities said.
According to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (AMNA), citing police sources, unknown callers around 11 a.m. claimed that explosives had been placed at the French Consulate and the Egyptian Embassy in Athens. The callers did not provide a timeframe for a possible detonation.
About 15 minutes later, similar threats were made against the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Athens Chamber of Crafts, both located on Akadimias Street in central Athens.
Police units were dispatched to the locations and carried out security checks.
