Premier League footballers are among the highest-paid athletes in world sport, but some stars are still considered underpaid when their salaries are measured against their performances and market value.
Using reported wage figures from Capology, a list of the 11 most underpaid players in the Premier League has been compiled, highlighting several standout performers who are earning significantly less than many of their peers.
Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen heads the list of undervalued stars. The Netherlands international reportedly earns £35,000 per week despite establishing himself as one of the league’s most reliable goalkeepers and attracting interest from several Champions League clubs.
Tottenham defender Djed Spence also features after reportedly earning £40,000 per week. The versatile full-back has enjoyed an impressive rise and continues to be linked with a potential move abroad.
Brentford dominate the list with three representatives. Centre-backs Sepp van den Berg (£20,000) and Nathan Collins (£30,000) have become key figures in the club’s defence, while winger Kevin Schade, who reportedly earns just £10,000 per week, is the lowest-paid player on the list despite his consistent goal contributions.
