EXCLUSIVE: Ruth Langsford is thought to be desperate to get her looming court battle with ex Eamonn Holmes over with - so she can get on with her life08:53, 31 Jul 2026With a High Court showdown looming, Ruth Langsford’s divorce from Eamonn Holmes is “dragging on” – and the TV presenter feels stuck in “limbo”.It was reported last week that the former TV couple, who announced their separation in May 2024 after 27 years together, are headed for court after failing to reach a deal on their divorce. The former This Morning favourites attended hearings last June and in February, and a court date has been set for later this year to hash out their financial settlement. But a source tells the Mirror that an exasperated Ruth, 66, can’t wait for the ordeal to be over.“Ruth’s ready to move on – she’s in limbo at the moment,” they say. “This divorce has gone on forever and is dragging. It’s been a long time since the initial split and she just wants to get on with her life and leave Eamonn in the past. They both want to have their separate lives.”A trial has been set for November, after Ruth initiated court proceedings to seek a “financial remedy” hearing after negotiations between the pair broke down.A pre-trial review is expected in the coming months. And though no specifics have been made public, the issues are likely to include estimated personal fortunes of £5 million each and the former marital home in Weybridge, Surrey, which they bought 12 years ago for £3.6 million.Yet, despite the stress of a High Court divorce battle with broadcaster Eamonn, also 66, our source says Ruth – two years on from their shock split – is doing well.“Ruth is in a really good place and she’s really busy. She’s not just got her successful QVC clothing range, she’s had a book out and that’s how she’s coped, by throwing herself into work and keeping busy.“She’s been spending time with her son Jack and she’s been on girlie holidays. She’s not dating, she doesn’t want that yet – she wants this divorce over with.”Jack, 24, is the former couple’s only son – while Eamonn – who is recovering from a stroke he had in April, also has sons Declan, 37, Niall, 33, and a daughter Rebecca, 35, from his previous marriage. In her memoir Feeling Fabulous, Ruth candidly opened up about the “huge shock” of her marriage split and how she sought therapy for her trauma, yet continues to put her best foot forward. It’s clear Ruth’s friends have been her rocks since her split, and she’s shared snaps and videos of fun nights out on the town with her “TV son” Rylan Clark and good pal Lizzie Cundy. In March, she shared snaps of a trip to the South of France with friends, including Lizzie, to celebrate her 66th birthday. But, as she admitted in her autobiography, reaching this brave new chapter hasn’t been easy. After spiralling and wondering if she was going to be alone forever, she said that she managed to get herself back on the right track. She told herself, “Ruth, you’re not going to die from divorce.”And she has confessed, when the time is right to meet someone new, Ruth wants it to happen organically. Speaking to Heart Radio presenters Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston, she revealed she had ruled out dating apps.“I want to do it the old-fashioned way,” she said. “You know, that I might just walk out of here, bump into somebody and go, ‘Oh, sorry’ and then find myself having a coffee with them. I don’t know, but I won’t be swiping anyone.”While the Loose Women anchor may not be ready for romance until the ink is dry on her divorce papers, Eamonn moved on with new partner Katie Alexander, a 44-year-old relationship counsellor, going official in May 2025.In a recent interview, Ruth admitted that the past two years have been the toughest but also the most transformative.“It’s been going very well so far,” she said, reflecting on the new stage of life. “The highlight for me has been my book, Feeling Fabulous, which has just stunned me, the kind of reaction I’ve had to it. People opened up to me and said, ‘This has happened to me’ and we had big hugs.”She added philosophically, “I’ve always been a very independent woman, that hasn’t really changed. But this is where I found myself, and I just have to get on with my life and make my own happiness and keep my career going, and look out for my son, that’s what I’m doing.“Life can change from one second to the next… nobody knows what’s going to happen in their life, but here I am, and I’m doing all right. They say time is a great healer, and that always sounds like a bit of a cliché, but I really believe it is.”Finalising the divorce will be a huge relief for Ruth, as she closes the door on a painful chapter. As she said recently, “I’ve got great friends, I’ve got a wonderful son, I’ve got a gorgeous little doggy. I just get on with my life and find my happiness.”Article continues belowLike this story?
