SAN FRANCISCO - Amazon.com Inc. on Thursday reported net sales of $200.6 billion for the second quarter, up 20 percent year-over-year.
The Seattle-based e-commerce and cloud-computing giant posted quarterly net income of $62.6 billion, or $5.75 per diluted share, compared with $18.2 billion, or $1.68 per diluted share, in the same period last year.
Amazon said its second-quarter net income included $53.4 billion in non-operating pre-tax other income, primarily from its investments in artificial intelligence company Anthropic.
The company's operating income increased 43 percent year-over-year to $27.5 billion from $19.2 billion.
Amazon's North America segment sales increased 16 percent to $116.2 billion, while its international segment sales rose 15 percent to $42.2 billion.
