Quantum Capital Management Limited has joined Promote Giving, a worldwide philanthropic coalition of top investment firms, making it the first asset manager based in China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to secure membership and marking a milestone for structured charitable giving in Hong Kong of China's cross-border asset management sector.
Regulated by the securities and futures commission of Hong Kong, the firm is among six new signatories, lifting the alliance's total members to 15 alongside global giants including Ares Management and Pantheon.
Distinct from ESG and impact investing, the Promote Giving model segregates charity work from core investment operations. Signatories commit to donating no less than 5 percent of performance fees from specified funds to charitable causes covering healthcare, education and public wellbeing. Donation volumes fluctuate with fund performance without altering investment strategies, risk controls or investors' profit priority, posing no extra costs to clients.
Quantum Capital has integrated this 5 percent donation mechanism into its philanthropic open-ended fund company (OFC) product under Hong Kong's OFC regulatory framework, enabling full transparency and institutionalised regular giving. The fund adopts low-correlation event-driven and merger-arbitrage strategies targeting stable absolute returns, with all donations traceable after each profit distribution.
