The 30-year-old was acquitted of three counts of sexual penetration without consent, an assault charge, and a choking charge following an eight-day trial in Perth. However, Barrientos was found guilty of two charges of assault occasioning bodily harm, relating to allegations he bit the victim’s neck and breast. Jurors were unable to reach verdicts on three further counts of sexual penetration without consent, and prosecutors will decide whether to pursue these charges. Barrientos remains free on bail, with a court date set for August 21 to determine a sentencing date for the assault convictions.
