SUBIC BAY FREEPORT, Philippines — The collapse of shipbuilder Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction-Philippines here in 2019 displaced thousands of workers and left one of Asia’s largest shipyards idle.
But the facility marched closer to restoring its place in the shipbuilding industry with the inaugural launch at Agila Subic Shipyard on Tuesday of Orion Jade, a 115,000-ton crude oil tanker, the first vessel built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Philippines (HHIP).
The vessel measures 250 meters long, 42 meters wide, and 21 meters deep.
