The Merval, Argentina’s main stock index, jumped 2.22% to 3,304,918 points on Thursday, extending a powerful rally driven by bets on President Javier Milei’s economic overhaul.

The blue-chip and bank-heavy benchmark was led by Grupo Galicia’s 2.8% surge, while energy producer Pampa Energía added 3.1% and state-backed oil firm YPF rose 1.9%.

The peso strengthened 0.43% to 1,489 per US dollar in official markets, narrowing the gap with parallel exchange rates and reflecting growing confidence among formal investors.
