The Accord Party has petitioned President Bola Tinubu, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, the National Security Adviser, civil society organisations and the international community over what it described as an alleged police crackdown on its members ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the National Chairman of the Accord Party, Maxwell Mgbudem, accused the police of harassment, intimidation, arbitrary arrests and detention of party members and government officials, claiming that the actions were politically motivated and designed to weaken the party's campaign.
According to the statement, the party has formally alerted key national authorities and stakeholders over what it described as threats to democratic participation and electoral fairness in the state.
