Hit teen comedy Clueless became a firm favourite amongst viewers when it was first released20:00, 30 Jul 2026A beloved teen comedy from the 90s will finally receive a sequel, decades after it first arrived on screens.Today (July 30), Paramount+ announced it has greenlit a sequel event series to the cult-classic 90s teen comedy film, Clueless - and fans will see the return of a favourite and familiar face.Alicia Silverstone will reprise her role as the Beverly Hills’ it-girl Cher Horowitz and will also serve as an executive producer for the series, set to begin production in Los Angeles in 2027.Paramount+ has teased: "Picking up 30 years after the original film, beloved Beverly Hills icon Cher Horowitz has figured out a lot: She’s successful in business and has mastered motherhood—that is, until her daughter’s high school years, and Cher finds that parenting a teenager makes her feel 'clueless' all over again."Clueless became a huge favourite when it was first released back in 1995. With an 82% Rotten Tomatoes rating, one person said: "Absolute must see to re-live the "'90s". Everyone is excellent, spot on."Another wrote: "This movie is probably one of the best movies I have watched in this class."A third penned: "I definitely recommend watching this movie if you want to get a sense of how the young generation was. It has really good acting, very funny. It is a good classic movie to watch and it feels very nostalgic."However, with news of the sequel, some fans are concerned. Taking to social media, one person said: "As much as I enjoy Clueless, it’s okay to leave it in the light it already provides fans and doesn’t need to convert into a limited series as a sequel.."Another wrote: "whats the point of a clueless sequel," as a third echoed: "How dare you green light a clueless sequel when brittany murphy is no longer amongst us??? trying not to be irrationally mad about this…"A fourth added: "The idea of a sequel to Clueless without Brittany Murphy feels WRONG."A fifth commented: "I don't see it working. That movie was of the time in the best way."Over on Reddit, another replied: "I look forward to this. Love Clueless.
