When asked recently about his time working in the White House last year (during which he oversaw a group designed to decimate the federal workforce in a stupid and chaotic way), Elon Musk said that he thinks he “got a little too involved in politics” and “got carried away frankly.” That might lead one to believe that he’d decided to narrow his focus to the companies he’s supposed to be running — one of which is not doing so hot from a shareholder perspective at the moment — and leave the world of politics behind. But apparently that is very much not the case, at least when it comes to the involvement of his money.

Instead, the richest man in the world is “jumping into the midterms with a huge investment in a plan to boost Republican voter turnout,” according to Axios, which reports that Musk is “resuscitating his dormant super PAC, America PAC, which spent more than $260 million to help get President Trump elected in 2024.” According to the New York Times, Musk “has authorized his super-PAC to spend $100 million to $120 million on a new field program in at least eight states to help elect Republicans in November. More per the Times:

Musk’s group plans to initially target Senate races in at least five states — Alaska, Iowa, Maine, Michigan and Ohio — and is having conversations about the contests in North Carolina, Georgia and Texas, according to two people with knowledge of the super PAC’s plans. The super PAC is also planning to spend in House races in states including California, Wisconsin and Washington, according to two people with knowledge of the plans.
