Search called off for GB surfer who disappeared off coast of Portugal

Authorities have called off a search for a British surfer who disappeared off the coast of Portugal earlier this week after failing to locate the missing man.

Arran Strong, who had competed in the World Surf League since 2016, went missing off of Arrifana beach in Portugal's southwestern Aljezur region on Monday.

According to Portugal's Autoridade Marítima Nacional (AMN), the 28-year-old had reportedly got into difficulty in the water while paddleboarding with a friend from Monte Clérigo beach to Carrapateira.
