July 30 (UPI) -- Egyptian authorities said Thursday that a drone attack set two gas ships ablaze at the Mediterranean port of Damietta on Wednesday.
The drone struck a U.S. ship on the port, starting a fire that quickly spread to a Greek-owned tanker near the Suez Canal. The port is again operating at full capacity as the fires were extinguished without any casualties.
"No party has claimed responsibility," Egyptian officials said in a statement.
Egypt is an ally of the United States.
