Opposition politicians and analysts say Pellegrini overlooked Slovak and EU concerns over Chinese technology and strategic dependence.

Last year's report on cybersecurity in Slovakia, recently published by the National Security Authority (NBÚ), states in its section on cyber espionage that "predominantly Russian and, to a lesser extent, Chinese" groups targeted state institutions, private companies and operators of critical infrastructure.
"Attackers are increasingly targeting supply chains, industrial control systems and operational technologies. There is clear evidence of sustained efforts, particularly by Chinese- and Russian state-sponsored groups, to maintain a long-term, covert presence within compromised networks," the NBÚ report states.
Despite these warnings, President Peter Pellegrini repeatedly spoke during his official visit to China about expanding "cooperation in science, research and modern technologies".
