WINNIPEG, Manitoba--ICE Futures canola contracts traded to both sides of unchanged within a wide range on Thursday, with the bias pointed lower at midsession.
November canola traded within a C$25-per-metric-ton range, losing as much as C$15 per metric ton in overnight trade before climbing higher and then retreating to sit with small losses at midday.
Speculative positioning was a feature, with a downturn in Chicago soyoil contributing to the softer tone.
European rapeseed and Malaysian palm oil were also lower on the day.
Production uncertainty across Western Canada remained supportive, as hot temperatures continued to raise concerns over heat blasting in the southern Prairies.
