A uniform portal to bring together all data related to migrant workers that is available with various departments will be launched, Minister for Labour Bindu Krishna has said.
The Minister said migrant workers came to the State and returned, but there were no data available on their numbers. The Labour department, in association with other departments and with the support of the IT department, will ready a uniform portal.Again, migrant workers faced many issues related to their security. ‘Har din surakshit,’ an initiative of the department to provide the migrant workers training in Hindi language, had been rolled out. Often, they were familiar with Hindi, while learning Malayalam or English took time. The State-level inauguration of the ‘Har din surakshit’ training programme would be held in Kollam soon.Facilities to sit and relax as well as charging stations were being planned by the State government for gig workers, including autorickshaw drivers. These would initially be implemented in the three main cities in the State. Space for these facilities has been identified, the Minister said. Published - July 30, 2026 08:56 pm IST
