The Barry Silbert-backed Fortitude has agreed to purchase 9,000 Bitmain Antminer Z15 Pro miners for roughly $31.5 million, a move expected to more than double the company's previously disclosed Zcash mining capacity.

Bitmain is expected to ship 3,000 of the miners in October and the remaining 6,000 in November.

The Equihash ASIC miners, built for the specific purpose of mining Zcash's native ZEC token, will add 7.56 GSOL/s of hashrate according to a Thursday release and could increase Fortitude's mining capacity by 145%.

The additional capacity would bring Fortitude's disclosed mining fleet to around 12.8 GSol/s.

Based on the Zcash network's current hashrate, that would equate to more than half the network's computing power, though its total share will ultimately depend on how much additional capacity is brought online by other miners.
