A team of BJP leaders visited drought-hit villages in Shivamogga and Bhadravathi taluks on Thursday. The team, which included former Ministers V. Sunil Kumar and Araga Jnanendra, and legislators S.N. Channabasappa, D.S. Arun, and Dhananjay Sarji, visited the Bhadra dam at Lakkavalli and gathered details of the water available. Later, they visited Tyajavalli, Chamenahalli, and Hathikatte, and interacted with farmers. The team noticed poor growth in maize fields. The growers complained to the delegation that they had been facing difficulties owing to deficient rainfall and erratic power supply. They said power supply for their pump sets was available only at night, making it difficult to manage since they could not expect water from the reservoirs.
