Andhra Pradesh Minister for IT Nara Lokesh on Thursday laid the foundation stone for Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited’s (TPREL) 800 MW hybrid renewable energy project, which will be developed across Kurnool and Anantapur districts with an estimated investment of ₹5,350 crore.Speaking on the occasion in Pattikonda, Lokesh stated that Andhra Pradesh has emerged as a preferred destination for global investors, driven by the State government’s focus on policy stability, speed, and investor confidence.Global investment firms, including Brookfield, Blackstone, BlackRock, EQT, and TPG, along with major Indian companies such as Tata Power, Suzlon, ReNew, Premier Energies, ACME, and Waaree, are expanding their presence in the State, he said.The State’s renewable energy capacity has increased by nearly 400 per cent over the past year, as the government introduced the Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024, which aims to develop 160 GW of clean energy capacity while building a complete clean energy value chain. This includes solar manufacturing, batteries, green hydrogen, green ammonia, storage systems, and transmission infrastructure.The Tata Power project will combine 400 MW of solar power in Pattikonda with 400 MW of wind power in Kanekal, creating an 800 MW hybrid renewable energy facility. According to Lokesh, the project will generate approximately 4,000 jobs during construction and provide stable lease income to more than 1,100 farming families for nearly three decades.Calling for greater collaboration between government, industry, and local communities, Lokesh stated that attracting investments is the government’s responsibility, while developing skills and working hard are the responsibilities of the state’s youth, according to a release.Published on July 30, 2026
