The Final Girl Support Group According to Deadline, Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is attached to direct a film adaptation of Grady Hendrix’s The Final Girl Support Group at Paramount. Previously reported to be in development as a TV series at HBO Max with Charlize Theron and Andy Muschietti as producers, the outlet states Theron is no longer involved, but Muschietti is still financing the project under his Double Dream label. The story concerns a “Los Angeles–based therapeutic support group for six ‘final girls’— survivors of mass-murderer rampages whose experiences inspired the slasher franchises that saturated horror cinema in the 1980s and ’90s, earning them minor celebrity.” Thud Deadline reports Piper Curda, Sujata Day, Sterling Sulieman, Steve Agee, Karan Soni, Dot-Marie Jones, and Katie Parker have joined the supporting cast of Thud, the “darkly comedic supernatural romance” starring Sarah Michelle Gellar as the Grim Reaper and Rudy Pankow as the Devil. The Conjuring: First Communion Meanwhile, The Wrap reports Charles Parnell, Marta Kessler, and Caleb Dolden have joined the cast of The Conjuring: First Communion in undisclosed roles.
